News about Mark Teahen needing to undergo season-ending shoulder surgery bummed me out. He has a torn labrum in his right shoulder and will have surgery Friday. According to this article, Alex Gordon will not be called up to take Teahen’s place. If I had to guess, I’d say that Esteban German will probably finish out the season at third base.Teahen’s turnaround this season has been incredible. He currently leads the Royals with 18 HR and he’s second on the team in RBI (69) and runs scored (70). He’s also hitting .293 and has a .360 on-base percentage. The season only has a few weeks left, but I still wanted to see Mark stay in the line up and play the rest of the season out because he’s been so much fun to watch. But with such an injury, it’s better to get it taken care of now.
